INSIDE JACK PUTTER, THERE'S A HERO TRYING TO GET OUT.
From director Joe Dante (Gremlins, The 'Burbs) and producer Steven Spielberg (Poltergeist, Back to the Future) comes Innerspace, an action-comedy adventure that will turn your world inside out!
Maverick pilot Tuck Pendleton (Dennis Quaid) is about to make history as part of a scientific experiment to be miniaturised and injected into the body of a rabbit... but when rogue scientists steal the new technology, he finds himself injected into hypochondriac grocery clerk Jack Putter (Martin Short) instead. Together with ace reporter Lydia Maxwell (Meg Ryan), Jack must find the stolen tech that will get Tuck back to regular size and out of his body - before the bad guys extract him by force!
With Dante's unique mix of wit, charm and screwball action, as well as extraordinary Oscar-winning visual effects, Innerspace is a beloved classic of 80s cinema that remains as funny and exciting as ever in this brand new 4K restoration.

Joe Dante's 1987 science-fiction action-comedy gets a lovingly crafted release from Arrow. The Oscar-winning special effects by Dennis Muren and ILM remain completely convincing nearly 40 years(!) on and Arrow's excellent 4K transfer brings out the fantastic attention to detail. The new "Shrinkage" documentary is superb with some wonderful reminiscences among a fine collection of extras. Arrow have done it again.

Just watched the 4K UHD of "Innerspace". The image is wonderful, detailed, fully cinematic and respectful of the original filmic aspect; it looks just like a movie from the 80's should. Colors in Dolby Vision are natural, bright and pretty, never oversaturated. Celluloid grain is properly treated, also natural, never intruding. Sound choice is hard: the new Dolby Atmos is great, of course, but almost "too good"; "too shiny", if you catch my meaning. I personally prefer the original 4.1: it sounds full and enveloping, just like it did in theaters at the time (it is this good in "Spaceballs", too). Wonderful, respectful restoration and remaster, and, of course, the extras are juicy. Someone had the great idea to use the beautiful original artwork rather than the plain new one (as seen in the reversible sleeve and the disc itself). They gave this movie the de-luxe treatment with an O-ring, sturdy cardboard, nice poster, and informative, well illustrated booklet. This was just a pure joy, recommended 100%.

Arrow Video’s 4K UHD release of Joe Dante’s 1987 sci-fi adventure, Innerspace, is an absolute triumph of physical media; it stands as a shining testament to the importance of dedicated film preservation. From the moment the disc begins to spin, it is undeniably clear that this is a meticulously crafted edition. Picture Quality & Video Presentation At the core of this release is a premium 4K UHD transfer sourced from the original 35mm camera negative and personally approved by director Joe Dante. Authentic Texture: The presentation perfectly preserves the natural film grain structure, entirely avoiding the modern pitfalls of aggressive digital smoothing or artificial sharpening. Dynamic Range: Elevated by Dolby Vision and HDR grading, the transfer enhances visual depth and contrast. The expanded clarity delivers vibrant colours, natural skin tones, and remarkably rich, inky black levels. This breathes glorious new life into the intricate practical and miniature visual effects that defined the era. Audio Performance The soundscape receives an equally stellar upgrade, offering options that cater beautifully to both home theatre enthusiasts and purists. Audio Options: The inclusion of a newly remixed Dolby Atmos track expands the spatial environment, tracking the miniaturised pod's journey with fantastic precision. Purist Integrity: Alongside the Atmos mix, Arrow has thoughtfully included the newly restored original lossless 2.0 stereo and the original 70mm 6-track mix in DTS-HD Master Audio 4.1 surround, ensuring the film's classic sound design is perfectly preserved. Supplemental Curation The bonus content is extensive and substantive, avoiding generic promotional fluff in favour of genuine historical and technical insight. Key Supplements: The centerpieces are Shrinkage: The Making of Innerspace—a brilliant new hour-long documentary featuring fresh interviews with Joe Dante, visual effects supervisor Dennis Muren, and actor Robert Picardo—alongside rare, previously unseen behind-the-scenes video footage from the ILM workshops. Commentaries: The disc features a fantastic new commentary track by film critic Drew McWeeny alongside the archival team commentary. Packaging & Physical Assets Rounding out the experience is Arrow’s benchmark-setting, premium collector’s packaging. The set features a reversible sleeve with gorgeous newly commissioned artwork by Doug John Miller and a double-sided fold-out poster. Additionally, the perfect-bound collector's booklet features brilliant new essays that expertly contextualise the film’s unique blend of screwball comedy and Oscar-winning visual effects within cinematic history. Simply put, this definitive release is a must-own masterpiece for cinephiles, physical media advocates, and longtime fans alike.
