Widely acknowledged as a true cult classic of modern American cinema, Heathers has captured the imaginations of troubled teenagers the world over with its acerbic satire of the sugar coated high school movies of the 1980s...
At Westerburg High School, an elite clique of snobby girls known as "Heathers" reign supreme. Smart and popular, Veronica (Winona Ryder, Stranger Things) is a reluctant member of the gang and disapproves of the other girls' cruel behaviour. When Veronica and her mysterious new boyfriend, JD (Christian Slater, True Romance), play a trick on the clique leader, Heather Chandler (Kim Walker), and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. But it soon becomes clear to Veronica that JD is a sociopath intent on vengefully killing the school's popular students. She races to stop him, clashing with the clique's new leader, Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty), and leading to an explosive final confrontation with her troubled former lover.
Directed by Michael Lehmann, Heathers pushed the teen comedy into dark and nightmarish territory and is distinguished by the career defining central performances of its stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The film is presented here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray alongside a wealth of extra material providing insight into the making of this hilarious and shocking film.

I adore this movie, so to be able to own such a high-quality version of it is incredible. The extras included are amazing too, as someone who deals with media history its invaluable to have these extras so close at hand. A joy for anyone who loves physical media, well worth it.

This limited edition 4K release is the definitive way to experience a film that remains one of the sharpest and most cynical critiques of high school hierarchies ever put to screen. Decades on, its bite has not dulled. Winona Ryder is perfectly cast as Veronica, grounding the film with a much-needed emotional core that offsets Christian Slater’s electrifying and dangerously nihilistic performance as J.D. Their chemistry is impeccable, driving an inventive script packed with razor-sharp irony and endlessly quotable dialogue that never softens its edge or underestimates the audience. Visually, the film has never looked better. The 4K transfer delivers an impressive boost in clarity and fine detail while retaining an authentic, film-like grain throughout. Dolby Vision elevates the stylised production design beautifully, with punchy, vivid reds and rich, inky blacks that enhance the film’s surreal, dreamlike flourishes without compromising its original look. Audio is equally well handled, with both the original mono and the 5.1 track sounding clean and well balanced. As with Arrow at its best, the package is rounded out by extensive special features and premium physical extras that explore the film’s production, themes, and enduring cultural impact. This is a lovingly assembled release that treats the film with the respect it deserves. A must-own for fans and a reminder of just how daring, funny, and unapologetically sharp this classic remains, especially compared to the far tamer teen films it went on to inspire.
