Shinya Tsukamoto concludes his unofficial "War Trilogy" with Shadow of Fire, a visceral and deeply moving exploration of life in the ruins of post-WWII Japan. Unlike the grand scale of traditional war movies, this is an intimate, gritty "chamber piece" that eventually turns into a harrowing road movie, seen through the eyes of an orphaned boy.
