Hokey dialogue. Some dodgy CGI. A goofy premise. All of it comes together to make Deep Blue Sea a highly enjoyable and infinitely re watchable sci fi action movie. Arrow have given the movie a great treatment with a sparkling transfer and sound mix. The disc contains the features of the original dvd release from over 20 years ago but the new material rounds out the package. I especially love the storyboards and production art from earlier developments of the script which are fleshed out in an insightful audio commentary with screenwriter Duncan Kennedy. Fans will still yearn for that original ending to be made available but for now this is the definitive release for anyone who likes their big dumb genetically altered monster movies.
