Feeling lost, looking for surprises?

5 out of 5 stars, 5 reviews

I was on a Righteous Path of J-Horror when I ordered this, got this box with Juon & Ring Boxset. Gotta admit, I never heard of any single film out of this Boxset, and that made it even more Fun. Its a good feeling to still get surprises, when you have seen a lot, or thought so. The whole box is filled with entertaining fun on various quality levels. Some films are bad, other OK, some good and even really great! My Fav is Shikoku, this film was really something, I recommend this film to anybody I know, because why not ;-) Quality is mostly really good! Surprisingly there are extras on mostfilms, which I didn't expect, considering how unknown and left to die those films mostly are... Price is fair, box is beautiful, just buy it! I hope Arrow will give us a Volume 2 on this, maybe even for other Asian countries, like Thai Horror, and other niche ones

Quite different horror collection

5 out of 5 stars, 5 reviews

A collection 7 different Japanese films that are all connected to horror (even if they all aren’t strict ”horror movies). Some of these films are also really hard to find on a nice blu ray like this one. A lot of people will say the box set is worth it just for ”Noroi the curse”, but I would argue that there some other hidden gems on here as well.

Sit tight and listen

2 out of 2 stars, 5 reviews

Okey this is going to be very hard for some of you to hear, but these movies are absolute garbage. I went into this with a VERY open mind as I love anything that has to do with Japan, but God, these movies are bad. J-Horror rising? What horror? There is nothing scary in any of these movies. Noroi? A cringefest, lost footage boring pile of crap. Thats supposed to be the highlight of this boxset, which should tell you what the others are like. Inugami is literally unwatchable, the worst thing I ever watched. The slit mouthed woman is bad, but i sat throught it because the characters acted in ways i never saw before, the movie had a weirdly cozy feeling. Persona is horrible, junior student level production, although it also has a cozy feeling when watching. Shikoku i dont even know what its about. The last movie i cant even get myself to watch. The only reason i gave it 2 stars is because i know these are rare movies. As for the actual picture and audio quality, they are fine, nothing good or bad. The artwork on the box set is great, but it leads you to believe you will see some crazy J-horror, which is absolutely not true, NONE of these movies are scary at all. Im dissapointed in these movies, but the boxset looks cool on my shelf, so ill keep it.
