One of the features of F/X that attracted me was its characters, and a big reason for the film's interest. What they all shared was the ability to create believable people in the midst of a situation that rapidly escalated from odd to bizarre. Without their performances, F/X would not have succeeded, and it certainly wouldn't have lasted. As a buddy action film, F/X 2 has aged surprisingly well. It helps that the two leads are both appealing and that Condon's script offers a few new spins on the original material. Special effects have changed so dramatically since the time of the two F/X films that it's much easier now to overlook their improbabilities. Yesterday's improbability is tomorrow's cliche.
