A superb double bill of polished Japanese crime thrillers from 1967, featuring phlegmatic assassin Shiozawa. Despite swift and professional execution of his heavily protected targets, Shiozawa's employers inevitably attempt to double cross him and pocket the unclaimed yen. Very stylish, very moody, frequently very funny, the films bear welcome similarities to Le Samurai and Richard Stark's unstoppable Parker. Rarely seen outside of Japan these two films are every bit as good as Japan's more well known, crime movie exports.
