Devoured this release from Arrow as soon as it arrived. Very well presented with a choice of artwork (a lovely touch for us nerds - Hannah Gillingham's new artwork is a very worthy alternate choice.) Anyway, ignore this piffle - I've come on here to say the 4k transfer is superb; it loses none of the grit of the original, and it manages to correct some colour/brightness issues from past versions (I believe Phil Meheux may have had a hand in it?). The soundtrack is also flawlessly treated, with the sympathetically updated Dolby Atmos version sitting nicely alongside the original, uncompressed mono. Nice set of extra features - a treasure trove compared to the Criterion DVD release (excellent documentary, more contemporary interviews and a BFI Q&A from 2000). Proud to have this in my collection - struggling to think of ways this could be improved, to be honest. This - to my mind - is the definitive edition of one of Britain's greatest films.

Obviously the film is great. But the transfer itself is fantastic, the presentation is amazing as always. The packaging on the Arrow Store version is stunning, very happy with this purchase and would recommend to any enthusiasts

One of the best British gangster movies ever gets the 4k treatment. The result drips with filmic goodness. Lovely work by Arrow !
