Well-crafted horror film, faithful to the slasher genre with a dreamlike and Japanese formulation. Kurosawa's beginnings already with one of the most striking themes of his filmography, the idea of a "virus" alive (and possibly created by) a social architecture in decay, although in The Guard From Underground there are hints that things might not be as easy. The extras give some insight on the Director’s Company, a production company worth discovering.
