This is *my* Robin Hood. I was probably 9 years old, my mum - obsessed with Alan Rickman post-Die Hard - took me and my sister to the cinema to the see this, and the image of Brian Blessed's horse charging out of his castle gate up on that huge screen (at the Regal Cinema, Redruth) is a formative memory. I started archery lessons shortly after watching this. So, I don't think I can, in any way, objectively critique this. It's perfect to me, when I put the disc in I clocked that 142 minute run-time and thought; "Hmm, it's already quite late..." but, wow, those 142 minutes just flew by, it felt impeccably paced and from the very first moments Michael Kamen's glorious score started up over the logos I was just giddy again. This Arrow set is just the perfect tribute to a film that felt like pure adventure to me as a child, and still stirs up those feelings again all these years later.
