Being French myself, I feel entitled to say that most TV detective stories made in France are lame compared with what the USA, Scandinavia or the UK have to offer. However, co-writers Hervé Hadmar (who also direct) and Marc Herpoux have always produced clever series. Witnesses, season one, was a bit of a disappointment, in spite of some very good moments, but this second season, whose plot has no connection with the first one, is a tremendously good surprise, with obvious hint at brilliant US thrillers (the Yellow King of True Detective 1, the corridor scene of Seven, to name a few). I'm writing this with only 5 episodes under my belt, but whether the last episodes fail to convince or not is a moot point: you can buy it (5 quid!), because you are bound to enjoy the first disc immensely: good acting, unheard-of beginning, great scenery (Mount St Michel, amongst others) and thrilling cliffhangers!  Enjoy!
