Zombies are not at all my favorite genre of horror. For me, there is a paucity of fresh ideas & a dearth of scares compared to other subgenres. I enjoyed this as much as any zombie film I guess. It was refreshing to frame the zombie problem as a mystery instead of setting it in a post-apocalypse that requires the first 40+ minutes to be chock full of redundant exposition. The gore is great (made me feel weird eating my pie) and there are at least 3 scenes that make it worthy of its legendary status. As usual, Arrow has put out another satisfying release.

An over the top extravaganza of gore and violence. Throw in a bit of sleaze and you have Fulci at his best.
