Documentaristic, naturalistic and at times harsh, just like the reality of the people it depicts. A rare breed of films that one would probably not see in a cinema nowadays … The plot is also minimal it can be said. Still an unmissable film. It is difficult to say much about this film apart that it really has to be experienced. When it comes to the release itself, the picture and sound are just what is expected to be from Arrow, faithful just like it should be. Now, when it comes to the extras, they are good, they give an insight into the director, yet given the remarkable way the film was made with unprofessional actors, it would have been even better if at least some of them were found to say a word about their experience in making this truly deserved winner of the Palme D’Or. 

Slow, beautiful dive into the Italian rural past. Gorgeous movie, beautiful transfer. Love to have it in my collection.

Almost like a documentary without a narrator.
