Takashi Miike, just out of his great V-cinema period, plunges directly back into the world of Asian mafias, whether on the side of Chinese triads or yakuza clans, with this magnificent trilogy, a little gem of underground Japanese cinema. Energetic films, full of mastered and violent action scenes, where we each time find well-known actors in the industry, such as Kippei Shiina, Show Aikawa or Kazuki Kitamura. The masters offered by Arrow are of exemplary quality, a real pleasure to finally be able to own this trilogy in physics. THANKS

Arrow did a really good job on these films, again! The picture, sound, and extras are as good as it gets for this kind of niche cinema. It's a really nice set! Takashi Miike is an absolute madman, and I love this! He holds the record for the most feature films ever made (more than 110 and counting). His work offers a varied mix of V-Cinema and B-movie-esque craziness, alongside pure crime, yakuza, Action, drama, historic epics, Erotic Thriller, horror, and so on. He has done it all. Of course, not everything is greatness—or even really good—but he certainly knows what he's doing and isn't afraid to conquer new ground. He can be subtle and absolutely tastelessly grotesque; sometimes, he loves to mix the two. This set represents a mix of his wild, unpredictable moments combined with grounded crime drama work. It's a joy to watch. If you already have the V-Cinema box, you have to add this; but even if you don't, get it. The cool thing is that, at least in the first film, Sabu (the writer, director, and actor) is also acting in it, along with many other recognizable faces. Acting is top notch, Shots, editing, music is also really good. There's a sincerity mixed with shakiness and subtlety that you won't find anywhere else. I know I'm being vague, but I don't want to spoil anything here. Get this, enjoy it, and work your way through Miike's oeuvre. There are other Miike films and sets available from Arrow.
