I feel like for many people in their 30s right now Donnie Darko was a gateway film. It made me realize films could have depth and mystery while also being extremely entertaining. That mixed with teen angst and the feeling of not fitting in created the perfect blend to get my 13 year old self hooked on film for life. I prefer the theatrical cut as it's the one I grew up watching but I appreciate being able to view the directors cut as well.

Good release of this modern classic. There's a bunch of extras and Im bummed out I missed out on getting it with slipcover and booklet.

I don't doubt that fans of the film will delight in the many new angles and revelations that this updated vision presents. Those looking for a truly original and thought-provoking film, however, will find a lot to like about this remarkably strange film. Donnie Darko is worth checking out on and is recommended.
