Arrow Video
In 1960, following the success of their collaboration on Some Like it Hot, director Billy Wilder (Ace in the Hole, Sunset Boulevard) reteamed with actor Jack Lemmon (Grumpy Old Men) for what many consider the pinnacle of their respective careers: The Apartment.
C.C. Bud Baxter (Lemmon) is a lowly Manhattan office drone with a lucrative sideline in renting out his apartment to adulterous company bosses and their mistresses. When Bud enters into a similar arrangement with the firm's personnel director, J.D. Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray, The Caine Mutiny), his career prospects begin to look up... and up. But when he discovers that Sheldrake's mistress is Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine, Irma la Douce), the girl of his dreams, he finds himself forced to choose between his career and the woman he loves...
Winner of five Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, The Apartment features a wealth of Hollywood's finest talent on both sides of the camera at the top of their game. By turns cynical, heart-warming and hilarious, Wilder's masterpiece now shines like never before in this stunning 4K UHD presentation.

This is THE love story, quirky comedy. Gives me a lump in the throat and tight chest every time (in a good way). The 4k is superb, can see the scratches in the woodwork, the liquid from the nasal spray flying through the air. So many things I never noticed before. Audio is excellent too, just right. It's the best its ever looked. Performances, dialogue and flow of the film is superb.

I know it sounds like a common place, but happens to be true: they don't craft movies like this anymore. It's a masterpiece, to put it simply. I've seen it many, many times, and still it is a pleasure to watch it again and again, and to listen to those unmatched dialogues. Unlike nowadays, audience for Wilder was smart rather than stupid...and those actors... This edition renders justice to this movie. The remastering is cinematic, respectful, detailed, revealing... just marvelous, simply perfect. I have the USA 4K UHD from Kino Lorber and, believe me, this is clearly better. This movie looks and sounds glorious. And the artwork is great, too!! New, but quite adequately in the mood of the movie. Supplements are great, keeping Arrow's high standards. Unmissable if you still believe in the magic of cinema.
