When former child actor and Hollywood TV sidekick Bruce Lee returned to his native Hong Kong in 1971 to star in two films for fledgling company Golden Harvest, movie history was made thanks to one of the most iconic partnerships between star and studio that cinema has ever seen. In only a handful of films, Lee high-kicked his way into audiences’ imaginations forever, thanks to his blistering screen presence and his masterful ‘Jeet Kune Do’ fighting technique.
The first two starring vehicles for Lee, The Big Boss and Fist of Fury (both directed by Lo Wei), smashed all box office records in Hong Kong and made him the most famous face on the continent. Lee asserted his artistic independence by directing, writing and starring in The Way of the Dragon, arguably his most thrilling and personal film. Tragically, on the cusp of achieving the international stardom he had long strived for, Bruce Lee died suddenly in 1973, aged only 32. Not to be outdone by the tidal wave of ‘Bruceploitation’ films that followed, Golden Harvest completed two posthumous films using unreleased footage, 1978’s Game of Death and its 1981 sequel, as well as two official documentaries, the first of which hit cinemas only three months after Lee’s death. Today, five decades since his passing, Bruce Lee continues to be the most beloved and influential martial artist in the world.

Arrow have really gone the extra mile with this exceptional set. Having watched all of Bruce Lee's films countless times over the last 40-odd years, along with a steady stream of documentaries and biographies, I was genuinely suprised at the amount of new information I've learned about the man from the wealth of extras (documentaries, video essays, guided tours of the original movies locations, and more) included on each Blu Ray. It was a thrill to see the previously unavailable scenes in the Big Boss, but the excitement of seeing all the behind the scenes footage and unseen scenes from Game Of Death is something every Bruce Lee fan should experience. Arrow have managed to find the two missing reels, containing the long-rumoured outdoor footage from the New Territories, along with an additional fight scene. These have been used to assemble a new cut of GOD in line with Bruce's original vision, and also to construct a two-hour plus documentary with commentary on the entire contents of the reels - this provides a time capsule of Bruce and the other actors making the film, and it's breathtaking to finally see it. Each film is provided in a variety of international versions, with the best picture and sound quality I've seen these movies receive. The book, lobby cards and poster are fantastic additional touches, indicative of the sheer level of attention to detail that's clearly gone into the set. I described this set to a friend who was interested in buying it as being like going to Bruce Lee University, such is the immersive depth of information. Each disc provides hours of entertainment. As a fan since I first saw Enter The Dragon in 1982, I can honestly say this is the most excitement I've felt at seeing these movies since I originally watched them for the first time. Even a couple of the documentaries whose initially made me question what could possibly be said that hasn't been covered before brought new facts to light, and the set has exceeded all expectations. It's fitting that Bruce Lee's body of work should receive such treatment on the 50th anniversary of his death, and as far as box sets go, this is the gold standard I'll hold other sets to in the future. Worth every penny.

WOW one of the best sets released from Arrow The films look great in brand new 4k releases shame Enter the Dragon is not 4k This is absolutely jam packed with special features exhaustive amount in a good way. This is highly recommended set. The package/art design is top notch as well.

The absence of Enter the Dragon is sad. Even if it is unavoidable due to board rights and adult circumstances, Not only in Japan, but also in the world. The world, not only in Japan, must want to have a complete set. Most Japanese fans have been waiting for the Japanese theatrical version for decades. The whole world will be surprised. It's in the blood of Japanese distributors. Without seeing it, we still don't recognise it as perfect. There are many other arguments, such as the use of songs and the monstrous bird sounds. I think there are different ways of perceiving it in different countries. But everyone should know, and experience, the existence of the original JAPAN theatrical version!

There were a few tears in the shrink and crushing of the outer box. However, I felt that a great deal of effort and improvement could have been made. I think it would have been perfect if it was wrapped in plastic wrap. Thank you very much for the safe delivery
